Nicky works with Age UK to promote Ageing Well event

Nicky Morgan is teaming up with Age UK Leicester, Shire and Rutland to put on a major event helping older people to plan for living positively into and through long, productive retirements.

The Ageing Well Event, due to be held in Loughborough on Saturday 10 March, will see an exhibition of charities, emergency services, health providers and private sector suppliers; with each exhibitor dedicated to making the years running up to and including retirement positive ones.

During the four hour event, aimed at anyone over 50, their relatives and carers a number of seminars will be held covering topics as diverse as pensions, planning for care, mindfulness and chair yoga.

Nicky said “It is great that more and more of us are living longer, sadly that means we are often living with more complex health conditions. We know that with careful planning we can all hope for a positive retirement and the purpose of this event is to go some way in asking ourselves what it is we want after many years at work and making those hopes and aspirations a reality.

“As a constituency MP a huge part of my role is helping local people access services that may be available to them; services which can help us to plan for our futures.

“If you are starting to think about retirement or if you are retired now I would urge you to visit this important event. The future for all of us isn’t about ageing but about ageing well.”

A spokesperson from Age UK Leicester, Shire and Rutland said “We’re really excited to be working with Nicky on this important event.

We’re especially pleased to be welcoming North West Leicestershire District Council who will be bringing along their Boditrax machine for attendees to try out. This innovative machine carries out a non-invasive scan of your body’s composition, giving you the chance to check out 20 clinically validated measures in just 30 seconds.”

The Ageing Well Event, brought to you by Nicky Morgan MP working in partnership with Age UK Leicester, Shire and Rutland will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 10th March at Schofield Family Centre, Greenclose Lane, Loughborough, LE11 5AS.

Exhibitors will include RNIB, Hearing Loss, NHS, Leicestershire Fire & Rescue, Leicestershire County Council, Absolute Care, Helping Hands Care, Chesterton House, Boditrax, Dementia Action Alliance and Mind for You (final list to be confirmed).
