Nicky welcomes the support available to those applying to the EU Settlement Scheme

Nicky Morgan has welcomed the free support available from a number of local and national organisations to help those applying to the EU Settlement Scheme.

Support is being offered both over the phone and face-to face to those who encounter any issues with their application, as well as to those who are vulnerable.

Citizens Advice has a webpage with information on every step of the process, including advice on: checking how to apply; starting the online application; applying from outside the UK; scanning identity documents; filling in the online application form; and changing an application after it has been submitted. Their webpage also covers some of the common issues people have encountered in using Android and iPhones to complete their application. More details here:

Commenting, Nicky Morgan said: “EU citizens have enriched our local area, not least through their contributions to our economy.”

“I welcome that the Government has worked to secure their rights to continue living and working in the UK following the UK’s exit from the EU.”

“The EU Settlement Scheme has been designed to make it as simple as possible to apply, and applicants only need to prove their identity, demonstrate their UK residence and declare any criminal convictions.”

“Whilst the vast majority of applicants have not had any difficulties in applying, I recognise that there are some local residents who have encountered issues. That is why I welcome the support offered by these organisations. My office is also happy to provide assistance and can be reached on 01509 262723”.
