Eaton had the pleasure of welcoming Nicky to its Eaton Electrical Products Limited site located in Burton-on-the-Wolds on Friday 7th September 2018. Eaton is a global company with a 2017 turnover of $21 Billions.
The site in Burton-on-the-wolds, which employs 100 people, is focused on commercial and engineering activities of Bussmann series fuses and Rotary Cam and switch-disconnectors supported by a global manufacturing footprint.
Mrs Morgan was greeted by Bill Butters, Managing Director and was introduced to the various teams located in Burton.
The site’s Customer Experience Centre (a room custom built to showcase Bussmann series fuses) was the perfect place for Anthony Garlinge-Warren, Senior Field Applications Engineer, to explain the many applications fuses are used in: from factories, rail, renewable energy to electric vehicles.
She then had a tour of the testing laboratory where Gillian Makepeace, Test engineer, explained the various stringent testing programs fuses are put through, such as lifetime analysis and low power verifications.
Dr Kim Wakelin, Product Engineering manager, took the opportunity to explain that Eaton works with the Engineering department of Loughborough and Warwick universities, as well as taking part in STEM days at local schools. Several team members also offer continued support to Loughborough Young Enterprise organization. Mrs Morgan was introduced to Sam Burton our newest and youngest employee who started early September as Data Management apprentice.
Dr Wakelin also mentioned that ‘the site has currently got 5 engineering vacancies opened and we’re looking forward to building up our technical talent in the very near future’.
After visiting our testing laboratory Mrs Morgan stopped by our latest addition to the site ‘Buggingham pallets’, an environmental designated area where recycled objects where used (old pallets, hard hats, safety shoes, old fuse bodies) to build an area where bugs and butterflies can ‘visit’ and prosper.
Mrs Morgan tweeted following her visit ‘ Thank to Eaton EMEA in Burton-on-the-Wolds for hosting my visit today – great to meet everyone and hear about current and future plans’.
