Nicky Morgan visits new 3G pitch at Charnwood College

Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan was given the opportunity to visit the new state-of-the-art 3G sports pitch when she visited Charnwood College last week. She was shown the new facility by the Principal of Charnwood College, Mark Sutton.

The pitch, which was opened in June, is fully floodlit and can be used as four pitches for 5-a-side, 6-a-side or 7-a-side matches or as a full sized football pitch.

What makes it special is the unique synthetic turf. 3G is more realistic than first-generation turf pitch and safer than natural grass. 3G has fewer bumps and holes, so players performing on it are less likely to trip. 3G looks like natural grass and possesses many similar characteristics during play. The pitch meets the same standards as many top European football clubs.

After the visit, Nicky Commented:

“This new pitch is just wonderful. It can be used in all weathers and will last for many years to come. It is important that students in Loughborough have access to the best quality sports facilities, and this 3G pitch is certainly the best quality!”

Mark Sutton added:

“This is a first-class, top division facility for our own students and the local community.  We are absolutely delighted with it!”

The pitch is also available to hire for the local community. Call 01509 554400 or email office@charnwoodcollege.org to book.
