Nicky Morgan, Member of Parliament for Loughborough, is calling on local groups to make applications to access an important funding scheme to benefit their local communities.
On 14 February a new funding round will open for grants made possible by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Local groups will be able to apply for between £500 and £20,000 from three distinct funding pots.
The People’s Postcode Trust (www.postcodetrust.org.uk ) seeks applications for projects that focus on the prevention of poverty, promotion of human rights and equal rights; whilst the Postcode Local Trust (www.postcodelocaltrust.org.uk ) supports community gardens, play areas, wildlife and green energy projects.
A third scheme, the Postcode Community Trust (www.postcodecommunitytrust.org.uk ) focuses on grass-roots sports, arts, recreation healthy living programmes.
Nicky said “The People’s Postcode Lottery is a fantastic way for community groups and charities, particularly those who may not be used to making funding applications, to further their aims and tangibly improve the lives of people in and around Loughborough.
“It could be an allotments association in Shepshed looking to develop a community orchard, or a sports club in Sileby; if you make a difference to the lives of people in your community then it is well worth making a funding application.”
Funding applications can be made between 14 and 28 February and each website provides a funding guide detailing how bids can be made.
