Raised a local resident’s concerns about telephone scams with the Culture Minister – I know that some local residents have been targeted by scammers who are phishing for personal information. If you have been the victim of one of these scams, please do report this to Action Fraud: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud. If you would like further information or advice about fraud, it is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/frauds-tricks-and-scams/frau…

Made a statement about the Government’s plans for educational excellence everywhere – in our White Paper, we set out our vision to continue the rise in educational standards in England. It is clear that the impact academies have in transforming young people’s life chances is widely accepted and that more and more schools are keen to embrace academy status. However, having listened to feedback from MPs, schools, teachers and parents, we decided that it is not now necessary to bring legislation to bring about blanket conversion of all schools to achieve this goal. My statement on this can be found here: https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2016-05-09/debates/1605097000001/…

If you would like to read the full report, it can be found here: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cmselect/cmpubacc/727…

My Week in Westminster - 18th March 2016

Wrote to the Housing Minister about the Charnwood Council Core Strategy – I recognise that local residents feel they have accepted more than their fair share of new housing in recent years. In light of new planning appeals and applications, I have written to the Minister asking him to clarify how our core strategy is being taken into account during the appeals process.
